My Favourite Groups of People ♥

These people.. Are responsible for my happiness. ^^

Chosen Six
An awesome group of people to share workload, fun and laughter with. (:
My sem 2.2 groupmates that consists of the Crazy one, the Tall one, the Small & Cute one, the Happening one, and the Floorball one. Hehehe. (:

2.2 was a crazy and hectic semester, project submissions sure made all HTMers crazy much.
But with this group of people, it made those late night project meetings and site visits a hell lot more fun. (:
From the crazy one's craziness and 'HEHEHEs'
to the Tall one's ability to counter attack lame jokes
to the Small&Cute's 'I KNOW ALREADY'
and the Happening one's jokes against her own culture
to finally the forever busy with floorball but will still contribute one.
I believe back then in 2.2.. we got some hates cause of our constant laughters in class. :x

I thought when project ends we would stop hanging out together,
cause we were constantly discussing projects and it was like our only conversation topic.
Interestingly it didn't bore us. 0.0
But I was proven wronggg! (:

Tall one's birthday at Pizza Hut
My birthday at Pasta Mania,
ECP gathering
and finally the Happening one's birthday at Old Airport Road with finally everyone present.

The OAR's gathering reminded me of the days where we would eat at Food Trail after site visit at the Singapore Flyer~ :D

Who else could bring so much fun to my life but not jeopardizing our results at the same time?

The Primary School Peeps

Our clique was like.. the biggest one back then in primary school.
We even organised a few class gatherings, from our teacher's condo to the Pasir Ris Park.
But now we're down to these 'regulars' that turns up for gatherings.

Last gathering was to celebrate my birthday~
At House of Steamboat at Bugis followed by Ritz Apple Strudel. :D

Afterwhich we all couldn't find time to meet again. :/
Even though I do still see Peiling in school very often. ^^
But we all missed Leryee's enlistment and POP.
Really quite bad. :/

Oh wells. SIP coming, graduation coming.
Till then we shall meet again. (:

Oldest Friends

The friends I known since the day of my birth.

The cousins. (:
Our cousins community is HUGE.
But because of different commitments,
we can't get everyone together, other than the New Year~ :/

This girl. The closest person to a Best Friend I'd ever have.
Considering I'm not very.. Sociable and doesn't have many close friends~

The Boy
Do you consider him a group? Haha.
But he's my boyfriend, best friend, soul mate, brother, closest friend. ^^
My constant moral, psychological, spiritual support. (:

ROMEY. (:

Hardly ever physically here for me.
But forever trying his best to pacify this whiny girl here.
I'm not easy to please, I admit, but he never gives up. (:

My Officer, and the Pilot of my Private Jet. :D :D

The Friend
Not a group either.
But..
My Aussie Room-mate, My Working Partner
(PS. She laughed so loud when we were working that we got complained. HAHA. :P)
Prolly the closest friend in TP.
The most PARANOID and Whiny and Angry girl I've ever met.
Hahaha. :x

She's so angry all the time it's annoying.
But she never fails to drop a message to check if I'm fine whenever I don't sound fine on twitter. (:
Our friendship.. Not smooth-sailing at all.
Nevertheless. :D

Alrighty, back to work! :x

All the lovely happenings

My Pride.

OCT Kho. (:

Sorry, please ignore the man's head at the bottom of the picture, a lil lazy to crop. :x

Such an honour to be at the parade to witness him commission as an officer. (:
Well, it wasn't as though he was the Sword of Honour, Sword of Merit or whatever.
But I knew what kind of sh*t he went through till he marched into the Parade Square at OCS.
People probably think that it's no big deal. If others can do it, why can't he?
But so many people got Out of Course.
And he pulled through, and I went through it with him.
And that.. came along with Pride. (':

Then.. The Grand Commissioning Ball.

I don't know how many people are envious.
But I'm appreciative!
Not everyone gets a chance to attend,
prolly one of the most important and grand event in our lives.

Surely, we dressed up.
And the evening was awesome.
Not the fact that it was Fullerton, or that the food was great,
or that the program was wonderful.
Just..
The event itself, is so significant. (:

But anyway, the food!
The ball was held in the Ballroom in Fullerton Hotel. (:

Here's the Menu, featuring a 4-course meal.

Started with the bread, since it's fine dining.

Yummy. I had the plain bread, cause I don't quite like oats etc. :x
But this picture is Jerome's bread! No idea what was it.
The butter/margarine had a 'f'' imprinted on it!
Well, Fullerton~ haha. But didn't manage to snap a shot!

It annoyed me when I saw others not knowing how to eat properly though. :/
Like, how the girl beside Jerome thought her side plate was on the right..
And how she sawed the bread and placed the butter/margarine in between and munched on it. :x

Ahh, it's a HTM thing. It is damn bad. :/

Okay, moving on the First Course~

Japanese Scallops, Asian Mushroom Salad
Tomato Water and Mustard Oil

I have no idea what kind of description is tomato water.
But the scallops were gooodd.
Chewy and crunchy? Doesn't seem like the right words.
But it's just good. Cold dish though, the sauce is a lil, weird.
Just not to my liking I'd say~

Hmm. Then.. The soup! My fav course of the night!

Consomme of Roasted Duck
with Ginger and Star Anise
Julienne of Smoked Duck Breast

Okay, it looks like some miso-soup or some.. Asian thing.
And the description.. Not very appetising, to me. :/
But omg, it's delicioussss.
Loved it. (:
The smoked duck breast is the 'sediments' you see.
It's like ham. Yumyum. (:

Okay, next up!
Main Course~
Oven Roasted Tenderloin of Beef
Truffle Mash Potato, Garden Vegetables
Sonoma Valley Sauvignon Blanc Reduction

This is Jerome's Main Course.
I think it was.. Medium Well.
Not too bad.
Served with Asparagus.
Can't comment much, didn't eat that myself.
Just stole a few bites.

As for mine~

"Live" Malabar Snapper Fillet,
Roasted Garden Vegetables, Mushroom Ravioli
White Wine Foam

Tell me my photography skill's better! haha. :x
Not a fan of wet pasta. :x The Ravioli tasted a lil gross. :/
But.. the fish was not bad!
And the tomato was YUMMY. Sweet. (:
And the Asparagus also not bad. (:

Then.. Dessert!

Lychee Rice Pudding with Coconut Sherbet

Mmm. Not a fan of rice pudding, didn't really touch it. :/
Coconut Sherbet was quite yummy, but Jerome says its heaty though.
He's biased la, he doesn't like coconut stuff~
I didn't like the blackberry and raspberry, sourrrr. :x

Then the meal ended off with sweet treats with tea. (:
I took Macaroons for the 'sweet treats'.
Quite yummy, my first macaroon! (:

Last photo of the day. (:

Restaurant Review

A recent assignment submitted.
I thought, why not? Might as well~! (:

So here goes~!

This review calls attention to the Jack’s Place at Bras Basah Complex.

The first impression was formed by the friendly staff who took the reservations over the phone. Therefore, a higher than average service level was expected as I walked into the restaurant with my friend Jerome. However, the first physical interaction with the host was unpleasant.

Upon entrance of the restaurant, we were greeted by Junjie. There were no proper greetings done, as he just wanted to quickly seat us down to serve another table. He walked hastily to place the menus on a table, and left us to walk to the table ourselves.

However, the ambience of the restaurant was good, a very different environment in comparison to the neighbouring shops. The soft love songs played in the background complemented well with the softly lit restaurant, creating a romantic, if not relaxing, atmosphere. It was also well-decorated with green and white items, such as the table cloth.

Also stressing green and white in its design, the easy to read menu presents a considerable variety of appetizers, main courses, desserts and beverages. Additionally, it features a monthly promotion, which is ‘Local Fusion Delights’ in June.

The menu could have been better if less emphasis was placed on the prices though, such as doing without the dollar sign($), and/or not placing them in a column.

After browsing through the menu, another service glitch was experienced as we tried to catch the attention of the staff for order-taking. The restaurant had only around 6 tables opened, yet it took a while for the staff to notice.

It annoyed me when Junjie, again, approached our table, as he appeared to be distracted and in a hurry. However, he was helpful during the order taking process due to his familiarity with the menu but he did not bother to up-sell.

The garlic bread and drinks were then served shortly after with the first course, Seafood Cream Soup.

Filled with crabsticks and cubes of carrots, potatoes, celeries, the soup was delicious with its thickness and taste just nice. The slightly salty soup base was also well-balanced with the sweetness of the crabsticks and carrots.

After the prompt removal of the first course, the second course was served around 10 minutes later.

The service thereafter was better, probably because the inflow of guests had slowed down. However, the table was not reset after order-taking, which resulted in having a fork and knife for my spaghetti. Nonetheless, the waiter replaced my knife with a spoon quickly after I alerted him.

My main course, Laksa Infused Spaghetti with Grilled Seafood, did not seem to be very appetising from the way it was presented, probably also due to the ingredients and the crockery choice. The seafood was displayed on top of the spaghetti, overwhelming the bowl, making the prawns, fish fillets, crabsticks and scallops looked like it was all over the place.

As for the food quality and taste, the combination of laksa pesto and spaghetti tasted weird. The laksa pesto was thick and flavourful served at the right temperature, the spiciness would have suited people who fancy spicy food. Yet probably due to its large portion size and oiliness, the Spaghetti only tasted good for the first few mouthfuls. After which, it was dreadful having to finish up the dish. Nevertheless, the grilled seafood served were generally fresh, with prawns which were succulent and sweet. However, on the whole, it is a dish I would not recommend.

While indulging in the main course, the captain came to check if everything was going fine, and if the food was okay. I commented that the pasta was too spicy to my liking, but other than that, everything else was okay. Thus, he just nodded and went away. Other waiters were also attentive; they refilled the iced water and asked to clear the plates at appropriate times.

Being too full for the dessert that came with the set meal, we had asked if it could be taken away. The dessert was supposedly a scoop of chocolate ice-cream which could not be packed, so the captain kindly offered to change to cheesecakes for us.

After the bill was called for, the captain took the opportunity to engage in a small chat with us, which I thought was excellent as it shortens the perceived waiting time. The dining experience then ended off very well with a warm farewell bade by the captain who escorted us to the exit.

Overall, I felt that the dining experience was rather pleasant, with the pleasing ambience and friendly staff. However, I believe it would have been better if I had stuck to their usual menu items and if they had improved manpower management and training.

I could not understand why Junjie was fulfilling the task as a host, captain and even the waiter, while the other staff were just serving. I believe crowds should have already been expected especially during dinner time on a Saturday. Therefore, the manager could have scheduled more staff with designated roles, so that they would be able to perform their duties better and not rush through the processes, which can ruin the whole dining experience.

On top of that, I personally feel that asking for guest’s feedback is not sufficient. If the food was not to their liking, then offer a discount or a complementary item. It may be an additional cost to the business, but it will increase the tendency of the customer returning to the restaurant or recommending it to his/her friends.

Lastly, when they offer monthly promotions with special items, I feel that it would be good if they can sell smaller food portions for customers to try it out. If they do not like it, they can order smaller portions of the normal menu items as well, as they might not have the stomach to finish up a full main course anymore. Of course, the prices should also be adjusted accordingly.

Hmmm. Updates on Comms Parade & Ball sooooooooonnn! :D
The parade was just~ *beams* PRIDE. (:

Till then!
